Mississippi abortion clinic asks Supreme Court to uphold Roe v. Wade
The Center is representing Mississippi’s only abortion clinic in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in which the Supreme Court will consider the constitutionality of pre-viability abortion bans. CNN quoted Center lawyer Julie Rikelman from the Center’s brief saying, “The right to decide whether to continue a pregnancy is grounded in the Fourteenth Amendment’s protection against deprivation of a person’s liberty without due process of law.”
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette also quoted from the brief saying, “Accepting Mississippi’s request to abandon the viability line would turn back the clock for generations who have never known what it means to be without the fundamental right to make the decision whether to continue a pregnancy,”
The Center and its clients warned of “chaos” should the Court overturn Roe.
