Supreme Court to Hear Abortion Case Challenging Roe v. Wade
This article in the New York Times discusses the Supreme Court’s annuncement in a Center for Reproductive Rights case to hear Mississippi’s appeal to a ircuit Court decision throwing out the state’s law banning most abortions after 15 weeks. The case could undermine the constitutional right to abortion established in Roe v. Wade. “Alarm bells are ringing loudly about the threat to reproductive rights,” Nancy Northup, the president of the Center for Reproductive Rights, said in statement. “The Supreme Court just agreed to review an abortion ban that unquestionably violates nearly 50 years of Supreme Court precedent and is a test case to overturn Roe v. Wade.”
