Physicians for Human Rights Amicus Brief in Zurawski v. State of Texas
Brief filed in Zurawski v. State of Texas.
Amicus is Physicians for Human Rights, a nonprofit organization that uses science and medicine to document and call attention to human rights violations worldwide. The brief argues that the Texas abortion bans are unworkable for practicing clinicians and make it impossible for them to both comply with the law and uphold their core ethical and human rights obligations. Amicus also argues that Texas’s abortion laws violate pregnant patients’ human right to be free from torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, by mandating them to continue pregnancies that will cause foreseeable physical and mental anguish.
