Whole Woman’s Health v. Jackson: U.S. Supreme Court Ruling on Writ of Mandamus Petition
On January 20, the U.S. Supreme Court denied the Center’s petition for a writ of mandamus, which was filed on January 3 and requested the Court to order the Fifth Circuit to remand the case to the district court. Justice Sotomayor, who wrote the dissent and was joined by Justices Breyer and Kagan, said, “This case is a disaster for the rule of law and a grave disservice to women in Texas, who have a right to control their own bodies. I will not stand by silently as a State continues to nullify this constitutional guarantee.”
