Sumitra Tharu
Senior Program Coordinator, Asia
As the Senior Program Coordinator, Sumitra supports program management and coordination including annual planning and budgeting, subgrant management and donor compliance, evaluations, administrative coordination and knowledge management.
Sumitra has experience in program management support for international entities and NGOs; recently, she worked as Senior Associate at United Nations Office of Project Services (UNOPS). Prior to this role, Sumitra worked various positions with similar responsibilities over 12 years in Mercy Corps, Nepal; Save the Children, Nepal; United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), Nepal; World Education International Nepal and Backward Society Education (BASE), Nepal.
Sumitra earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Rai Foundation College, India and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Tribhuvan University Nepal. She belongs to the indigenous Tharu Community of Nepal and is based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
