Joung-ah Ghedini-Williams
Chief Communications and Marketing Officer
As Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, Joung-ah Ghedini-Williams leads the development and implementation of the Center’s global communications strategy. This includes content generation, media relations, advocacy campaigns, digital and social media, brand and reputation management, events, and executive, internal and crisis communications.
Joung-ah joined the Center in 2023 after nearly 30 years with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Based in Geneva, she served as Head of Global Communications Service and a member of UNHCR’s senior management team. In this role, she oversaw a department of over 100 staff across three continents and was responsible for generating and maintaining public interest and support for people forced to flee, including refugees, internally displaced and stateless people.
Born in Korea, Joung-ah immigrated to New York City as a child. She is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, and received a master’s in international affairs from George Washington University. She is fluent in English, French, Italian, Korean and Spanish.
