Center to Host Webinar Celebrating 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Hear from a panel of experts on the role of sexual and reproductive health and rights in advancing human rights at this December 7 virtual event.
This month marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a milestone document proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948 that set out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected.
To mark the occasion, the Center for Reproductive Rights and its partners are hosting a webinar, “UDHR Anniversary: 75 Years and Counting,” on Thursday, December 7, at 9 a.m. ET. The event is free and open to the public.

The webinar will bring together a panel of experts from leading human rights organizations, who will highlight the critical role of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in realizing the UDHR’s promise.
Participants will hear from key leaders working to advance SRHR in light of the recent historic advancements and unprecedented assaults on SRHR around the world. Leaders will discuss the connection between SRHR and human rights, their work to support marginalized groups, and ways to advance and protect human rights for all.
Speakers include:
- Catalina Devandas, Executive Director of Disability Rights Fund and former UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
- Sibongile Ndashe, Executive Director, Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa
- Macarena Saez, Head of the Women’s Rights Division, Human Rights Watch
- Monica Simpson, Executive Director, SisterSong
- H.E. Roberto Armando de Leon Huerta, Director General of Human Rights and Democracy, Mexico
The Center’s Rachana Desai Martin, Chief of Government and External Relations, will moderate the discussion.
