FDA Says It Will Not Appeal Court Decision in Center’s Plan B Case
After the Center’s victory against the FDA in March, last week the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it will clear the way for Plan B’s manufacturers’ to make the “morning-after pill” available without a prescription to 17-year-olds. The FDA will also reconsider its previous decision to limit over-the-counter access to the emergency contraceptive to women 18 and older.
“It’s a good indication that the agency will move expeditiously to ensure its policy on Plan B is based solely on science…It’s time the FDA restores confidence in its ability to safeguard the public health and put medical science first.”
