Media Highlights: Texas Supreme Court Oral Arguments, 11.28.23

The Texas Supreme Court heard arguments November 28 on Texas’s appeal of an injunction issued in August, which blocked the state’s abortion bans as they apply to patients with dangerous pregnancy complications. The appeal blocked the injunction from taking effect, leaving the state’s abortion bans in place.

Media Highlights: Ruling, 08.04.23

A Texas District Court ruling August 4 clarified the medical exception in Texas’s abortion bans and found S.B. 8, a vigilante bounty-hunting abortion ban, unconstitutional. However, the state of Texas immediately appealed the ruling to the Texas Supreme Court, putting the injunction on hold while appeals proceed.
