Visiting Scholar: Isabel Jaramillo, Spring 2010
Isabel Jaramillo, Professor at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia is a Visiting Scholar at the Center this spring. Professor Jaramillo is the Director of the Jurisprudence Program and coordinator of the IDEG, Grupo de Investigación Derecho y Género de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de los Andes, a research group that is focused on the way in which law constructs gender and allocates resources.
Professor Jaramillo is a longtime partner of the Center. She has worked as a consulting attorney and drafted the abridged Spanish-language version of the Center’s Bodies on Trial among other projects. Professor Jaramillo is drafting a background paper for the Center’s Global Scholars Incubator on May 17, 2010, a convening of international legal scholars and Center attorneys to exchange information about legal developments in reproductive rights law. Professor Jaramillo will pursue comparative law research of more than 70 cases from around the world related to reproductive and sexual rights in preparation for the convening.
