Video Replay: U.S. Abortion Regression in the Global Context
Watch the presentation from the International Conference on Family Planning by the Center's Katy Mayall.
Katy Mayall, director of strategic initiatives for the Center for Reproductive Rights, spoke recently at the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) about the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision removing legal protections for abortion rights. The session, titled “Progress and Rollbacks: US restrictions on abortion rights in a global context,” was held at the ICFP Live Talk stage on November 15 in Pattaya City, Thailand.
Mayall discussed how the ruling made the U.S. a global outlier and contrasted the U.S. Supreme Court to courts in Latin America that have firmly recognized abortion rights as fundamental human rights.
“The unexpected consequence of the Dobbs decision has been the fortification of abortion rights in countries worldwide,” said Mayall.
