U.S. withdrawing from key international bodies
Executive Order 14199
On February 4, President Trump issued an executive order announcing his decision to leave the United Nations Human Rights Council and United Nations Relief and Works Agency, reinstating policies from the first Trump administration. The administration claims that these organizations do not align with U.S. foreign policy and promote anti-semitism. The administration will also be reviewing the U.S.’s membership in the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Leaving these UN agencies that work to protect the human rights of people around the world will undermine the exercise of, and work to advance, reproductive rights globally.
