The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is an independent agency comprised of five presidentially appointed members, responsible for implementing and enforcing Federal employment discrimination laws, including those on sex discrimination, which involves pregnancy, childbirth, transgender status, and sexual orientation. The EEOC investigates charges of employment discrimination, develops and drafts Federal regulations, trains employers and employees, and provides guidance and support to other Federal agencies on the government’s equal employment opportunity program.
