Texas Medical Association Amicus Brief
Amicus is the Texas Medical Association, the nation’s largest and one of the oldest state medical societies representing the voices of more than 55,000 physicians and medical student members.
The brief argues that if S.B. 8 is not enjoined, it will result in the continued harm to the general welfare by, among other problems, interfering with the physician-patient relationship; chilling critical health communications; exacerbating Texas’s already critical physician shortage; and exposing physicians and the state courts to the risks and burdens of frivolous lawsuits.
This brief was filed in support of two lawsuits at the U.S. Supreme Court challenging Texas’s abortion ban (S.B. 8), Whole Woman’s Health et. al. v. Jackson et. al. and United States v. Texas.
