Texas At It Again
This week, elected officials in Texas began pre-filing some of the bills they hope to pass during the 2013 legislative session. A pre-filing certainly doesn’t guarantee that a law will pass, and some measures won’t even make it to a vote, but clearly anti-choice laws are on the mind of some Texas legislators, according to KVUE.com:
[One measure] would create new crackdowns on abortion-inducing drugs, including requiring patients and doctors to sign a detailed contract. A bill similar to [this one] failed to pass the legislature last session.
Another proposal, though, would advance reproductive rights by changing the law that effectively bars any organization that promotes or performs abortion-related services from participating in the state’s health care programs for women.
Stay tuned.
