While very few countries—the United States and Poland among them—have recently rolled back legal protections for abortion rights, many in Latin America have achieved remarkable advances in liberalizing abortion laws. The region’s “Green Wave” movement to advance reproductive rights—marked by the green bandanas worn by protesters—was a powerful force behind these changes.

At “Faces of the Latin American Green Wave: From Argentina to Mexico, Leaders Share Their Experiences,” you’ll learn about the movement from Inter-American policy makers, judges, activists, and human rights stakeholders. This in-person symposium—which is free and open to the public—will take place Thursday, October 27, at 2:00 pm in Washington, DC. It can also be viewed online upon request. (See “Event Details” below for more information.)
