Statement of Administration Policy supporting H.R. 21
The Trump administration issued a Statement of Administration Policy in support of H.R. 21, a bill that would have implemented vague requirements as to how abortion providers are to perform their jobs, coupled with criminal penalties of up to five years in prison for failing to comply. The bill passed in the House with a vote of 217-204. However, the Senate failed to pass its version of the bill (S.6), falling short of the 60 vote threshold necessary to invoke cloture and proceed to a vote on passage of the bill.
