Join us on Monday, April 20th at 7pm EST for “Human Rights at Home and Abroad.” During this presentation, our speakers will explore the role of human rights law in the U.S. and globally.

Karla Torres, Human Rights Legal Fellow at the Center for Reproductive Rights, will present the groundbreaking Nuestro Texas Campaign, which shines the spotlight on the lack of access to reproductive health care in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. She will describe this innovative work which culminated in a human rights report titled, “Nuestro Voz, Nuestra Salud, Nuestro Texas,” and the recent Human Rights Hearing that took place in recognition of International Women’s Day. 

Jina Dhillon, Policy Advisor at Ipas, will present on utilizing international and regional human rights reporting mechanisms as a strategy to hold governments accountable for access to safe abortion services as a human right. She will focus on human rights accountability in the Africa region under international human rights instruments as well as under the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa.
