Slovakia: Setting the Record Straight on Contraceptives
The Center is working with its partners in Slovakia to advocate for the government to provide subsidized access to contraceptives for the most vulnerable populations. This fact sheet details Slovakia’s obligations under international and European standards to provide access to contraceptives. They also explain the social and economic benefits of contraceptive use and debunk common myths around oral contraceptives.

Women exploring the use of contraceptives are often faced with misleading information about their safety and effectiveness, as well as women’s right to access them. This misinformation can prevent women from realizing their reproductive rights, including the right to decide freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children, the right to receive and impart the information and means to, the right to attain the highest standard of sexual and reproductive health, and the right to make decisions concerning reproduction free of discrimination, coercion, and violence. This factsheet sets the record straight on oral contraceptives and governments’ obligation to provide family planning services.
