Shadow Letter on Uganda to the CEDAW Committee
In September, the Center submitted a shadow letter to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW Committee) on the situation of sexual and reproductive rights in Uganda. Uganda is reporting to the CEDAW Committee during its 47th session in October 2010. The shadow letter highlights areas of concern related to violations of women‘s and girls’ reproductive and sexual health and rights, including: women‘s lack of access to quality maternal healthcare, to family planning services and information, and to HIV services, lack of access to safe abortion and post-abortion care services, and discrimination and sexual violence against women, adolescents and schoolgirls.
