In response to a call for submissions on mistreatment and violence against women during reproductive health care with a focus on childbirth, the Black Mamas Matter Alliance and the Center for Reproductive Rights presented this joint submission to the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women highlighting examples of such violations as they occur in the United States (U.S.). This joint submission also draws attention to some of the innovative interventions that communities directly affected by mistreatment and violence in facility-based birth settings are developing to mitigate and prevent human rights violations.
