Snehelata “Salenta” Singh v. The State of Uttar Pradesh &, Ors. concerns a case of preventable pregnancy-related injury. Due to the poor quality of care during labor, Salenta developed an obstetric fistula. Her situation worsened when her condition went undiagnosed and then untreated for months. Salenta’s case is part of a national state high court litigation strategy against preventable maternal mortality and morbidity in India initiated by the Center that is being spearheaded by Human Rights Law Network, India.
