Reproductive Rights in a New Era
You’re invited to the upcoming symposium, “Reproductive Rights in a New Era: Transitioning from Casey to the 21st Century” on Friday, February 13th at Penn Law School.
Co-sponsored by the Center for Reproductive Rights and Penn Law Students for Reproductive Justice, this symposium will explore the reproductive rights issues that advocates have faced, are facing, and will face during the transition into the 21st Century and a new era of reproductive rights and justice advocacy. We will begin with the Supreme Court’s 1992 decision in Planned Parenthood v. Casey and then move to some of today’s most pressing issues including high-impact litigation strategies post-McCullen and Hobby Lobby, work being done to combat restrictive legislation, and finally, the affirmative legislation and advocacy strategies aimed at securing reproductive rights in the future. The day will conclude with a keynote address from Lynn Paltrow, the Executive Director of National Advocates for Pregnant Women.
