Sebastian Rodríguez Alarcón

Sebastián is an international human rights lawyer who is currently the Program Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Center for Reproductive Rights. In his role, he is responsible for conducting human rights investigations and missions, reporting on countries compliance with international laws before high courts and international human rights bodies, and leading the implementation of human rights standards in-country through litigation and advocacy. Sebastián has appeared before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, U.N. Treaty Bodies and the U.N. Human Rights Council.

Sebastián has headed up strategic partnerships initiatives with pro bono law firms in New York, London, Geneva, Bogotá, and São Paulo, helping secure the best CSR/Diversity Initiative of the Year in the 2017 British Legal Awards for the firm Debevoise &amp, Plimpton.

Prior to joining the Center in 2014, Sebastián was a Human Rights Instructor at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. He has been an adviser to the Open Society Foundations and the Cabinet of the Minister of the Colombian Ministry of Labor. Sebastian began his career at the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and the Organization of American States’ Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia, working in armed conflict and post-conflict settings.

Sebastián holds law degrees from McGill University and Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. He has been a guest lecturer at Yale, Columbia, NYU, and McGill law schools.
