Michele Coleman Mayes

Michele Coleman Mayes last served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for the New York Public Library. She previously held the position of General Counsel for Allstate Insurance Company and Pitney Bowes Inc. Ms. Mayes served on the Presidential Commission on Election Administration under President Barack Obama. She was chair of the Commission on Women in the Profession of the American Bar Association. She serves on the Board of Directors of Gogo Inc. (NASDAQ: GOGO) where she also chairs the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Brookfield Reinsurance Ltd (NYSE-BNRE) and is a member of the governance and nominating committee. She is on the Board of Trustees of the American College of Governance Counsel. Ms. Mayes previously chaired the Board of Directors of Legal Momentum, one of the nation’s oldest legal advocacy organizations dedicated to advancing the rights of women and girls, and for more than 17 years, was a member of its Board. She is a member of the American Law Institute and the Bar Association of the City of New York. Having dedicated her professional career to fostering inclusion in the workplace, she is a sought-after speaker on the topic of diversity and inclusion. She is the co-author of the book Courageous Counsel: Conversations with Women General Counsel in the Fortune 500.
