Kulsoom Ijaz
Staff Attorney
Kulsoom joined the Center in 2021 and is a member of the U.S. litigation team. She assists in litigating reproductive rights across the United States.
Kulsoom previously served as a Senior Staff Attorney at Legal Services of NYC, where she advanced tenants’ rights to safe, affordable, and fair housing in New York City. In that role, Kulsoom brought multi-plaintiff impact cases in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. She also partnered with grassroots and community organizations to conduct advocacy campaigns to amplify a cross-section of issues, including environmental justice.
Kulsoom is a Founding Board Member of the American Muslim Bar Association (AMBA) and is currently serving as the Advocacy Chair. Her work focuses on developing strategy and campaigns, building intersectional coalitions, and co-authoring statements in response to pressing human rights issues.
Kulsoom earned her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, where she was a Notes and Comments Editor for the Journal of International Law and Commerce (JILC), a Moot Court Honor Society Associate Member and Semi-Finalist, and a student attorney in the Criminal Defense Clinic.
