State Legislative Counsel
Israel joined the Center in 2020 and is responsible for tracking and analyzing reproductive rights legislation in all fifty states and Washington, D.C.
Israel is joining the Center after serving as an If/When/How Reproductive Justice State Fellow with one of the Center’s state partner organizations, SisterReach in Tennessee. During her fellowship, she managed the organization’s policy program, advocated against abortion restrictions in the legislature, coordinated an annual advocacy day in Tennessee, and contributed to amicus briefs and various reports on abortion access in the South.
Israel received her J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law and her B.A. in Sociology & Anthropology from Transylvania University. While in law school, she served as a student attorney at AUWCL’s Disability Rights Law Clinic, where she managed and supported EEOC claims and cases involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, special education laws, and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
