Evelyne Opondo
Senior Regional Director for Africa
Evelyne
joined the Center in 2013 and will coordinate the work of the Africa team, focusing
on policy advocacy, development and implementation strategies, project strategy
development, and strategic litigation throughout Africa.
Prior
to joining the Center, she served as the Regional Policy Associate for Ipas, focusing
on reproductive health within the Africa region. She also previously worked for
the Federation of Women Lawyers Kenya, leaving the organization as a Senior
Program Officer. Evelyne has also formerly worked as a State Law Officer in the
Office of the Attorney General of Kenya. She has more than 12 years of
experience in women’s rights advocacy, with specific interest in reproductive
rights.
Evelyne,
who grew up in Kenya, holds M.A. in gender and development from the University
of Nairobi and a bachelor of laws degree from Pune University. She lived in
India for five years pursuing her bachelor’s degree, and speaks English,
Kiswahili, and Luo.
