Danielle Owen
Editorial Associate
Danielle joined the Center in 2017 and is responsible for providing overall editorial support to the Communications team, including writing, editing, and fact-checking op-eds, speeches, publications, marketing materials, and website content as needed. She also coordinates document reviews and approvals, maintains an organization-wide message library, style guide, and editorial calendar, and assists with the development of key messages and talking points.
Danielle graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University in 2017 with a B.A. in Human Rights and Political Science. Before joining the Center, she interned at Human Rights Watch, PEN America, and the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect. She received the Erica Mann Jong ’63 Writing Fellow Award for her work as a Head Writing Fellow at the Barnard College Writing Center, and she also worked as an ESOL teacher for Columbia University Community Impact.
Danielle speaks intermediate Arabic and spent the summer of 2015 at the Columbia University Middle East Research Center in Amman, Jordan as the recipient of a Benjamin Gilman Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State as well as a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Education.
