Carmen Cecilia Martinez Lopez
Associate Director, Legal Strategies, LAC
Carmen joined the Center in April 2018 as Regional Manager. She oversees the legal work and strategies for Latin America and the Caribbean and is responsible for team leadership and overseeing Bogota’s office management.
Carmen came from Women’s Link Worldwide, where she worked as regional director and managing attorney. There she was responsible for designing and leading legal strategies in sexual and reproductive rights, violence against migrant women and human trafficking in Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to that, Carmen used to work at the Center for Legal and Social Studies (CELS) in Argentina, in their institutional development and justice and security work.
Carmen is from Venezuela. She holds a bachelor’s in laws from Yacambú University (Venezuela), a Master’s degree in Law and a graduate diploma in Constitutional Law and Human Rights from the University of Palermo (Argentina). She also holds a graduate diploma in Non-Profit Management from the University of San Andrés (Argentina).
Carmen’s native tongue is Spanish. She also speaks English.
