T.J. Tu is Chief Strategy and Operations Officer at the Center for Reproductive Rights. In this role, he serves as the organization’s senior internal leader, overseeing enterprise strategy execution, global operations, finance, human resources, diversity equity and inclusion, the Office of General Counsel, and organizational performance across functions and regions. Working closely with the President & CEO, he helps translate the Center’s strategic vision into coordinated execution, ensuring alignment across people, systems, and resources to advance the organization’s global mission.

T.J. has held multiple leadership roles at the Center since joining in 2018 as Senior Counsel on the U.S. Litigation team, where he litigated some of the organization’s most high‑impact cases, including serving as co-counsel in June Medical Services v. Russo (2021) before the U.S. Supreme Court. He later became the Center’s inaugural Associate General Counsel and, in 2022, General Counsel. As General Counsel and a member of the Executive Leadership Team, he led the organization’s global legal, governance, compliance, and risk functions and served as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and the Board.

Earlier in his career, T.J. was a litigation partner at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, where he represented clients in complex commercial matters and maintained a significant pro bono practice, including work on landmark civil rights issues. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sonia Sotomayor of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

T.J. holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the NYU Law Review, and a B.S., summa cum laude, from Drake University.
