Brenda Mbathi
Brenda Mbathi is a seasoned executive and Board leader with over 25 years of experience shaping policy, driving investment, and advancing inclusive growth across Africa. She currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Two Rivers International Finance & Innovation Centre (TRIFIC) SEZ in Nairobi, where she leads the development of Kenya’s premier business services hub, supporting foreign direct investment, job creation, and digital economy growth. Brenda previously held senior leadership roles at General Electric, including President & CEO for East Africa and Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for international markets. In these roles, she led large-scale programs across healthcare, energy, and infrastructure sectors, while advancing policy frameworks and partnerships that supported equitable development outcomes.
She also served as Government Affairs and Public Policy Director for Africa, where she worked closely with governments, multilateral institutions, and civil society to shape enabling regulatory environments and strengthen health and community systems. Earlier in her career, Brenda spent over a decade at East African Breweries (Diageo), where she led corporate relations and policy engagement across East Africa. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and has held leadership roles with the American Chamber of Commerce Kenya, the U.S.-Africa Business Center, and the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa. Brenda brings to the Board deep expertise in governance, policy advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration, alongside a strong commitment to advancing gender equity, human rights, and inclusive access to opportunity.
