Opinion: The handling of the Texas abortion case is an embarrassment for the federal judiciary
The Washington Post quoted Center senior counsel Marc Hearron in an opinion piece claiming that the recent rulings by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court in the Center’s case challenging Texas’s unconstitutional abortion ban demonstrated the disintegration of the federal judiciary’s authority. The 5th Circuit sent the case down to the Texas Supreme Court, further delaying the Center’s ability to challenge the ban. Hearron stated that for the appeals court to “sit on” the case “would be completely inconsistent” with the Supreme Court’s expedited handling.
