The appeal blocked the injunction from taking effect, leaving the state’s abortion bans in place.

A Texas District Court ruling August 4 clarified the medical exception in Texas’s abortion bans and found S.B. 8, a vigilante bounty-hunting abortion ban, unconstitutional. However, the state of Texas immediately appealed the ruling to the Texas Supreme Court, putting the injunction on hold while appeals proceed.
