More trigger bans loom as 1 in 3 women lose most abortion access post-Roe

This piece in Washington Post reports that nearly 21 million β€” about one in three girls and women in the United States between the ages of 15 and 44 β€” have lost access to abortion. Elisabeth Smith, the Center’s director of state policy and advocacy, commented about laws criminalizing abortion, saying, β€œThe criminal penalties will further chill the provision of care to women who need it.”

Interviewed for a segment on NPR, Smith said “And I think it’s important to talk about the fact that we will also likely see novel criminal penalties for abortion providers and helpers and some states trying to prevent people from crossing state lines,”
