U.S. Supreme Court Denies Emergency Appeal to Block Texas Abortion Ban

Late on September 1, the U.S. Supreme Court denied an emergency request from the Center for Reproductive Rights and its partners in the case, Whole Woman’s Health et al. v. Jackson et al, to block Texas’s near-total abortion ban that went into effect earlier that day. The law, which bans abortion after approximately six weeks of pregnancy, will end almost all abortion care in the state.
