Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy announced that, one year after President Trump issued an Executive Order starting the process, the U.S. has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO plays a critical role in setting global health standards, providing technical assistance to countries, and coordinating responses to health emergencies. WHO also provides important human rights-based guidance for reproductive health care.
