During a Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) committee hearing, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kennedy confirmed that he has asked Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Martin Makary to do “a complete review” on mifepristone, one of the two medications most commonly used for medication abortion. More than 100 peer-reviewed studies over the past 25 years have overwhelmingly demonstrated that mifepristone is safe and effective. Kennedy also stated that President Trump will make final decisions on mifepristone policy changes.
