Several media sources reported on the  leak of a draft opinion written by Justice Alito in the Center’s Supreme Court case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The draft reveals the Court’s intention to overturn Roe v. Wade and take away the constitutional right to abortion. 

Center president and CEO Nancy Northup was quoted by CNN, stating, “People would have to cross multiple state lines to get care, if they have the means to do so… This is going to be an access crisis. That is why you’re seeing, today, so many people coming out, not just in Washington, but across the country, to say that it is unacceptable to have the Supreme Court reverse fifty years of a guaranteed personal liberty.”

The Boston Globe quoted Elizabeth Smith, the Center’s director of state policy and advocacy, who explained, “Any scenario in which Roe v. Wade is overturned would open the door to a national ban — and we know that is the ultimate goal of the anti-abortion movement. For them, overturning Roe is just the beginning. They are determined to ban abortion in every state in the US.”
