The Center for Reproductive Rights submitted a comment in response to a proposed data collection for the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The comment urged the continuation of PRAMS data collection, which helps support a coordinated national response to the maternal mortality crisis. The comment also recommended targeted improvements, including collecting data on telehealth use; access to midwives, doulas, and other community-based birth workers; decision-making around birth setting; and military service (to better capture servicemembers’ and veterans’ pregnancy and birth experiences).
