The Center for Reproductive Rights submitted a comment  in opposition to a proposed rule from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that would limit access to many insurance plans by shortening the enrollment period, implementing eligibility barriers, and eliminating coverage for certain immigrants. The comment highlighted the negative impact the rule would have on maternal health outcomes, particularly for low-income and immigrant communities. 

Update: This rule was finalized on June 25, 2025, and became effective on August 25, 2025.
