Geneva to once again shine green for International Safe Abortion Day

From 28-30 September, flags carrying the messages “Reproductive rights are human rights” and “Les droits reproductifs sont des droits humains” will line the Mont-Blanc Bridge.

On 28 September, International Safe Abortion Day, Geneva’s emblematic Jet d’Eau will be illuminated in green, the colour of the global abortion rights movement.

Made possible with the support of the City of Geneva, these highly visible displays send a powerful message of solidarity and support for abortion rights, reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy.

Geneva will be part of a wider series of actions taking place across Europe to mark International Safe Abortion Day, organised by sexual and reproductive health and rights organisations, cities and other partners, with further locations to be announced.

By illuminating one of its most recognisable landmarks and raising the reproductive rights flags in the heart of the city, Geneva is once again putting reproductive rights firmly in the public eye and reaffirming its commitment to human rights.

On International Safe Abortion Day, the Center for Reproductive Rights is proud to work with the City of Geneva to stand with women, girls and pregnant people across Europe and beyond, and to underscore a simple message: reproductive rights are human rights.
