FDA Comment – Opposing Students for Life Citizen Petitions about restricting mifepristone acces

The Center for Reproductive Rights submitted a comment opposing three Citizen Petitions submitted by the anti-abortion group Students for Life requesting the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) take action to restrict mifepristone access on baseless environmental claims. The comment argues that Students for Life’s Petitions misstate the law and the facts about the environmental impact of mifepristone and are a baseless, blatant ploy to stigmatize and restrict abortion access. Any actions to limit access to mifepristone, including those based on these unfounded environmental claims, go against existing scientific evidence, could further burden providers and harm patients in need of medication abortion, and would be arbitrary and capricious.
