In a primetime ABC News special with Diane Sawyer and Rachel Scott, “Impact by Nightline: On the Brink,” Center for Reproductive Rights plaintiffs were among the women who shared their experiences being denied medically necessary abortion care despite facing dangerous pregnancy complications and risks to their health, lives and future fertility.
The broadcast, which was initially released on Hulu and aired on ABC January 5, reported on the dire impact that state abortion bans are having on pregnant people and the severe penalties threatening physicians under the laws. The program is currently available on Hulu.
Among the Center’s plaintiffs shown were Kristen Anaya, Kylie Beaton, Jessica Bernardo, Samantha Casiano, Kiersten Hogan, Lauren Miller and Elizabeth Weller, of Texas; Jennifer Adkins of Idaho; and Allie Phillips of Tennessee.
“We are medical refugees—in the United States,” said Weller.
