La ONU le hace un llamado de atención al Estado peruano


Un comité de derechos humanos dentro de las Naciones Unidas le ha hecho un llamado de atención al Estado peruano.



El país tiene una larga historia de funcionarios públicos de salud que le niegan servicios de aborto a las mujeres en casos en los que su salud
podría estar en peligro-a pesar de que es legal.



Y ahora, el Comité de Derechos Económicos, Sociales y Culturales (CDESC) ha concluido que Perú ha estado fallando en su responsabilidad de proteger los
derechos de las mujeres. (El CDESC monitorea si los países están cumpliendo sus obligaciones de derechos humanos de proteger los derechos de las
personas a trabajar en condiciones favorables, a un nivel de vida adecuado, y al disfrute del nivel más alto nivel posible de salud).



El Centro de Derechos Reproductivos, junto con Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Promsex, y DEMUS presentaron una carta sombra al CDESC, en la que se destacan las
múltiples formas en las que Perú ha violado los derechos humanos de las mujeres por no garantizar el acceso a servicios de salud reproductiva.



Específicamente, la coalición señaló dos

casos

en los que dos organismos diferentes de derechos humanos, el Comité de Derechos Humanos y el Comité sobre la Eliminación de Todas las Formas
de Discriminación contra la Mujer, adoptaron decisiones en contra de Perú.

fueron presentados por el Centro junto con las organizaciones aliadas DEMUS, y Promsex, respectivamente, en nombre de dos niñas adolescentes a quienes
les fue cruelmente negado el acceso a servicios legales de aborto.



El Estado ha fallado en la implementación de las recomendaciones de los comités en ambos casos-incluyendo la falta de garantía para que las
mujeres puedan obtener un aborto en casos de violencia sexual, y la falta de adopción de un protocolo nacional que garantice la disponibilidad de los
servicios de aborto para cualquier mujer cuya vida o salud esté en peligro.



Durante la revisión de Perú ante el CDESC, los miembros se refirieron a nuestra carta sombra y le preguntaron al Estado por qué todavía
no ha adoptado medidas al respecto. Perú no pudo dar una respuesta adecuada.



Así, en su analisis final, el comité reafirmó las decisiones anteriores recomendándole al Estado que aumente sus esfuerzos para
garantizar la disponibilidad de servicios de salud reproductiva, y para despenalizar el aborto en casos de violencia sexual.



El Centro alienta firmemente a Perú a que de una vez por todas cumpla con sus obligaciones de derechos humanos.
