Former Judges, Department of Justice Officials, and Current and Former Law Enforcement Amicus Brief in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health
Brief filed at the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the Center's challenge to Mississippi's pre-viability abortion ban.
Amici are current and former prosecutors and law enforcement officials, and former state attorneys general, federal judges, U.S. Attorneys, and U.S. Department of Justice officials.
Amici argue that upholding Mississippi’s ban would eviscerate the constitutional right to abortion and open the door to the criminalization of healthcare providers and people who seek abortions.
The brief describes how criminalization of abortion would undermine public trust in the justice system, create severe public health risks, and divert limited resources away from communities.
Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP is pro bono counsel.
This brief was one of over 50 amicus briefs filed supporting this Supreme Court case, which challenges Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban. For more information on the case, go to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
