Don’t miss “The Impacts of Poverty and Criminalization on Access to Abortion,” a side event at the 68th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) being shown on UNWeb TV on Tuesday, March 12 at 11:30 am. The event is organized by the Center for Reproductive Rights and co-sponsored by the permanent missions of Luxembourg, Colombia, and Canada.

CSW, held at UN Headquarters in New York, is the UN’s largest annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment. Center leaders will be speaking and participating throughout the CSW session, which runs from March 11-22.

At the March 12 side event, cross-regional panelists will discuss the critical importance of addressing structural barriers to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom—including by decriminalizing abortion—in order to address the cycle of poverty and achieve gender equality. The Center’s Rachana Desai Martin, Chief Government and External Relations Officer, will moderate the discussion, and Salima Namusobya, Vice President for Africa, will speak on the panel.
