Fertility Justice and Family Building Convening

Fertility Justice and Family Building Convening

Thursday, August 6 • In-person • 2:30pm-3:30pm CDT

Speakers: Jorie Dugan (CRR), Dr. Karenne Fru (Muna Fertility), Dr. Lasha Clarke and Dr. Isable Morgan (Morehouse School of Medicine, Center for Maternal Health Equity), Katerina Jones (Full Bloom Fertility).

As part of this full-day pre-conference, the Center is participating in the interactive event Choose Your Own Identity Road Map. Round tables will have an expert at each table, and attendees will circulate through the tables. Everyone will choose an identify (cis man, queer person, define yourself) and will be given different barriers that they face. Using the Patient Journey Toolkit, authored by Morehouse School of Medicine and the GA Fertility Justice Now coalition, and launched at the pre-conference, attendees will attempt to navigate their fertility journey. This activity will highlight access to care issues (safe passes, navigating the health care system) that different folks face. The Center will serve as the policy expert and walk individuals through the barriers associated with being in a state without inclusive or comprehensive AR laws.

This event is open to anyone who registered and was accepted; the pre-conference is already at capacity.

Fertility Justice Now

Update on Fertility Justice Now

Friday, August 7 • In-person, full day event

Speakers: Jorie Dugan and Israel Cook (CRR), Agbo Ikor (Spark RJ Now), Leah Jones (SisterSong) and featured state advocates, including Kenda Denia (Birth in Color).

This event will be an update on the Fertility Justice Now movement–what advocates are doing, which states are moving, and how to build a Fertility Justice bill package to ensure everyone who needs assisted reproductive technology (ART), (including in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and fertility preservation) has access to the fertility health care they need to build and grow their families.

This event is open to anyone who registers to attend the Let’s Talk About Sex Conference in person.

Reframing the Fight

Reframing the Fight: Combating Attacks on Fertility Care and Abortion Care

Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9 • In-person, full day event

Speakers: Speakers: Jorie Dugan (CRR), Leah Jones (SisterSong), and Catherine Lozada (COMS Project).

This session will offer participants an understanding of the overlap between attacks on fertility and abortion care. It will equip them with strategies and practical message training to connect these issues. Learn how to effectively communicate what’s at stake and why we need the freedom and access to care to make our own decisions about parenthood and pregnancy, while pushing back against harmful narratives.

This event is open to anyone who registers to attend the Let’s Talk About Sex Conference in-person.
