In a devastating decision that will reverberate for generations to come, on June 24, 2022, the United States Supreme Court eliminated the federal constitutional right to abortion in its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Ignoring almost 50 years of precedent, the ruling overturned Roe v. Wade and cleared the way for allowing states to ban abortion entirely. The ruling marked the first time in history that the Supreme Court has taken away a fundamental right.
The resources below from the Center for Reproductive Rights examine the Dobbs ruling and its impact, as well as the faulty legal reasoning behind the ruling.
