CRR Comments on ANPRM
The Center for Reproductive Rights submitted comments in response to the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) on “Certain Preventative Services Under the Affordable Care Act,” published in the Federal Register on March 21, 2012.
The comments explore the Center’s stance on religious exemptions from the preventative services rule within the Affordable Care Act. The Center applauds the inclusion of the full range of FDA-approved contraceptive methods and counseling, but urges against the adoption of an accommodation for religious employers. The preventative services rule does not infringe upon anyone’s exercise of religion. Thus no exemption from its requirements is legally compelled.
